The cradle to cradle® concept is based on the reutilization of materials and products with a view to sustainability. A distinction is made between biological and technical cycles.
DGNB
The German certification system DGNB (Deutsches Gütesiegel nachhaltiges Bauen= German Quality Seal for Sustainable Construction) has been established by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e. V. to provide a measure for the sustainability of buildings.
EPD
An EPD is an Environmental Product Declaration.
LEED
The certification system LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) of the U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) assesses the sustainability of buildings according to the following criteria:
ÖGNI
The Austrian certification system ÖGNI (Österreichische Gesellschaft für Nachhaltige Immobilienwirtschaft = Austrian Society for Sustainable Real-Estate Management) certified by the certification system of the DGNB, adapted to Austrian needs and provisions.
The risks of flame retardants such as PBDE, PBB, TCEP and HBCD in construction
19.08.2016 Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) are widely used as flame retardants in products. In DGNB system, these substances are examined in order to avoid the negative effects on humans and the environment.
PEFC certificate applicable as evidence in the LEED system under the Pilot ACP – “Legal Wood”
03.08.2016 In the new “Pilot Alternative Compliance Path – Legal Wood” for the LEED system, other wood certificates can now also be used to achieve points, such as PEFC, SFI, ATFS and CSA. After the test phase, the USGBC will determine whether this alternative verification will be integrated into the LEED system in the future.

08.07.2016 Cradle to Cradle® is a system of certification for products from all sectors of activity. The concept is also of interest in the building sector: in the LEED system, there are additional points for the use of building materials with evidence of Cradle to Cradle®.
